Did You Know? These Foods Are Rich in Sugar

Sugar may be fun to eat, but it’s very bad for you if you take a lot too frequently. Not only will it raise your blood sugar level to alarming heights, but it could also lead to obesity. And if you don’t manage your sugar intake, you might end up seeking for diabetes management and treatment in Provo.

So, you’ve probably begun trying to eat healthy, starting with foods that claim not to have sugar in them. However, you would be surprised to find out that some of these supposedly sugar-free foods actually have lots of sugar. It would be best if you avoid consuming them immediately.

Protein bars

It may be disheartening to find out that protein bars are not actually healthy for you. You’re thinking everything associated with exercise, gym, and sports-related foods should be healthy, but the fact is protein bars are not.

Most of these bars have about 20 grams of sugar, which is definitely bad for you. The reason behind their high sugar content is that sugar is a good energy-booster. If you’re running a marathon, for example, you’ll definitely need an energy boost after 10 kilometers.

But if you just work out in a gym three times a week, then eating protein bars for that energy boost is asking for trouble. Stick to eating bananas because they can give you that same boost without raising your blood sugar level.

Canned fruits

Just because there’s fruit in a can, it doesn’t mean that it’s healthy for you. In fact, canned fruits are filled with sugar that you’re almost eating a candy bar. Reports say the Fruit Chillers Frozen Fruit Sorbet of DelMonte is filled with 26 grams of sugar.

Don’t always assume that when a label on a canned fruit tells you that this product has light syrup and the fruits are real, it’s automatically healthy. They’re actually worse for you, so stay away from them.

Fruit juices

Again, just because a product has fruits doesn’t mean that it’s healthy. Fruit juices are also filled with sugar and some have as much as 36 grams of this sweet ingredient. Also, fruit juice products that claim to be 100% natural still have a lot of sugar that can be detrimental to your health.

Flavored yogurt

Health-conscious people often resort to eating yogurt because they believe they don’t have a lot of sugar and are delicious. And for someone who’s dying to eat something that’s both delicious and healthy, yogurt is the perfect treat.

But, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Flavored yogurt is unhealthy. It’s filled with sugar and again, if you eat food filled with sugar frequently, you will develop severe illnesses associated with high blood sugar levels.

Don’t always assume that when a food product claims to be low on sugar, it’s telling the truth. If you really want to stick with foods that are healthy, low in sugar, and truly good for you, stick to the basics: real fruits, vegetables, and fish.
